About the Program
The Program in Jewish Culture and Society is an interdisciplinary program that offers a variety of courses focused on certain aspects of Jewish life, be it philosophy, history, economics or language and literature, serving students of all backgrounds at the university.
Ours is a program that enthusiastically supports undergraduate and graduate students commited to the academic study of Jewish culture and society in the spirit of free and open inquiry appropriate to a public, secular university.
Each semester, the program awards scholarships, sponsors events and study sessions, and supports faculty with interests in the field of Jewish Studies.
The Program in Jewish Culture and Society offers a minor in Jewish studies, a major through the Program for the Study of Religion, and offers opportunities for graduate studies with a concentration in the study of Jewish Culture and Society. Our faculty are diverse and span many departments at the University, including English, History, Anthropology, Foreign Languages, Religious Studies and more. We invite all students interested in learning more about Jewish culture to come and study with us.
